Welcome to the website of the American Viola Society, the premiere
organization for violists in the United States!

If you are new to this site, you may be unaware of the activities of the
AVS. The organization celebrated its 30th Anniversary this past year. The 36th International Viola Congress was held in June of 2008, successfully hosted by Arizona State University Professor Nancy Buck. The Primrose International Viola Competition, led by Competition Director Nokuthula Ngwenyama, took place in conjunction with the Congress and witnessed the largest number of entrants in its history!

Events like these are attended by violists worldwide. If you are not already a member, perhaps you would consider joining the organization.
