A native of Taiwan, Ting-Ting Yen has succeeded in every facet of a versatile musician’s career as a violinist and a pianist. Having the ability to play both instruments gives her unique insight and knowledge which benefits her and her colleagues as a performer, collaborator and teacher.

Dr. Yen is currently a violinist in the Roanoke Symphony. She was formerly a violinist in the Winston-Salem Symphony and New Mexico Philharmonic. She has appeared with the San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Williamsburg Symphony, West Virginia Symphony, Garth Newel Piano Quartet, Opera On The James, Santa Fe Symphony, and has toured as concertmaster with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players.

As a collaborative pianist, Dr. Yen is the accompanist for the Virginia Glee Club UVa during the academic year, where she performs and tours with Grammy-winning music director Frank Albinder. During the summer she serves on the piano faculty at the Heifetz International Music Institute. She was previously on the collaborative piano faculty at Washington and Lee University and has served as an accompanist at Bravo! Festival in Minneapolis, at the University of Minnesota, and at the University of New Mexico.

Dr. Yen received her D.M.A. in Violin Performance and Masters in Collaborative Piano from the University of Minnesota. She also holds a Masters degree in Violin Performance from Manhattan School of Music.
