Violist Penny Tong enjoys a career in teaching and performing. She is currently a faculty member at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Austin College. She is Principal Viola of the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. She has played as a chamber musician at the Valley Symphony Orchestra piano quartet since 2024. Penny is a DMA candidate (ABD) at University of North Texas, mentored by Dr. Susan Dubois. She holds degrees from Cleveland Institute of Music and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she studied with Jeffrey Irvine and Wai-Ming Wong respectively. She is a certified Suzuki Violin tutor for all book levels.
