Dr. Kimia Hesabi is a violist, composer, educator, and arts administrator. As the Director of Learning and Engagement at National Philharmonic, she develops programs that are centered around artistic, educational, and social impact. Hesabi is a Co-founder of En Route, an ensemble that explores the unique sound of strings with creative performance experiences. En Route brings together multicultural works and interdisciplinary collaborations, weaving poetry with music and music with movement into immersive performances at venues ranging from the National Gallery of Asian Art in DC to galleries and house concerts across the DMV. Hesabi’s versatile performance career spans orchestral, chamber, and solo work. Guided by a deep passion for new music, she has commissioned works from a diverse range of composers — including Niloufar Nourbakhsh, Gity Razaz, and members of the Iranian Female Composers Association. Passionate about music education and community-driven collaborations, she works with organizations like Sound Impact to engage and empower diverse communities through performances and educational workshops. Hesabi’s discography includes her debut album, Nemāno Gaona (2022), and Neera (2025) which is a collaboration with violinist Sarvin Hazin that includes their original compositions for violin, viola, and electronics. Kimia is a proud board member of the American Viola Society.
