Recognized by Rice University for her “outstanding achievement and promise,” Vaughn Fellowship recipient Molly Wise is a violist who uses performance to inspire and educate. She performs throughout Houston, Texas with organizations including Apollo Chamber Players, Musiqa, as the violist of Duo Impetuoso with pianist James Palmer, and more. She has concertized around the country, sharing the Kennedy Center stage with Vietnamese instrumentalist Võ Vân-Ánh, presenting original transcriptions of Florence Price and Amy Beach as a lecture-recitalist at the 2024 AVS Festival, and performing with members of the Miró, New Orford, and Borromeo Quartets at chamber music festivals. In her programming, Molly highlights works composed by women, including commissions of new works.
Molly is a Doctor of Musical Arts student at Rice and served as James Dunham’s teaching assistant for five years.
