Adam Carter is principal cellist of the Charlottesville Symphony and Associate Professor of Music at the University of Virginia. He performs frequently as a recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician throughout the United States. Prior to moving to Virginia, Adam was a member of the Madison Symphony, the Erie Philharmonic, and taught at Ripon College, in Wisconsin. A prize winner at the 1998 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, his performances can be heard on the Albany and Bridge record labels. Dr. Carter grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and attended the North Carolina School of the Arts, Eastman School of Music, and the University of Wisconsin.
