Sunjoo Lucas Park, born in NYC, began violin studies at age four and transitioned to viola at nine with Sunboon Jeong. He started Juilliard Pre-College at eleven under Molly Carr, and currently studies with Yi-Fang Huang. Lucas has appeared in prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium, Alice Tully Hall, and DiMenna Center. He has earned top prizes in competitions such as National Artist, East Coast International, Lyra, and Vancouver International Music Competition. As a soloist, he performed with NY Classical Youth Orchestra under conductor Timothy Cho. Lucas has served as principal positions in Juilliard Pre-College String Ensemble and Symphony, as well as NJ Regional and All-State Orchestras. He is a former member of NYYS, the Grammy Award-winning youth orchestra.
A 2026 YouthArts winner with Distinction and recipient of the New York State Senate Award, Lucas is also a finalist at 2026 United States Marine Band Concerto Competition to be held in February. Lucas, a junior at Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan and recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award Gold Level, is an active member of Emergency Medical Services in his hometown, currently completing his EMT training, committed to not only music but to also service.
