Johanna Beaver is an acting member of the viola section of the Richmond Symphony, the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra, and is a founding member of the Afton String Quartet. Johanna has served on the faculties of the University of Virginia, Mary Baldwin University, University of Mary Washington, Interlochen Arts Camp, Ann Arbor Summer Arts Camp, Opus 118 Harlem School of Music, and Stony Brook Pre-college. Currently, she teaches at Charlottesville Day School. Johanna holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in viola performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where her mentors were Mitchell Stern, Katherine Murdock, and the Emerson String Quartet.
