Orquídea Guandique Araniva is a professor of violin and viola at the Escuela de Artes Musicales of the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), where she has also taught courses in the areas of music history and string instrument pedagogy.
As a performer she developed a strong interest in non-canonical repertoire, with a special emphasis on works by Latin American composers. This focus has guided much of her artistic career, which is distinguished by a constant pursuit to highlight and promote lesser-known repertoires within academic and professional settings.
As a violist, she maintains an active performance schedule that includes recitals and lectures at various musical institutions in Costa Rica, Europe, and the United States, establishing an international presence as both a performer and academic.
