Use of low and regular first and second finger. Viola 1 goes into 3rd position and has harmonics at the end, and there are some double stops (3rds and 5ths) that could be tricky for young players. You could double each part if performing with students in their 2nd–3rd year of study. The rhythm is very straightforward: all quarter notes, half notes and eighth notes (with ties but no slurs) in duple meter.
