At every stage of growth through our musical lives, it is vital to have a trusted teacher towards which to turn. The valuable insight a teacher gives us often opens up w`orlds of possibilities in playing and expression. What if you had the rare opportunity to sit down with some of our most sought-after viola professors to ask them your most burning questions about playing the viola, teaching, and the future of music? That is exactly what I did through interviews and observations with several master teachers including Heidi Castleman (The Juilliard School), Jeffrey Irvine (Cleveland Institute of Music), Victoria Chiang (Peabody Institute), and Leonard Schranze (University of Memphis and Interlochen Center for the Arts). This session will discuss the wisdom these master teachers shared that will help all of us to be the best musicians and violists possible.
