Dr. Laurel Yu is Assistant Professor of Viola at Valdosta State University and currently holds the Brantley and Barbara Jenkins Principal Viola Chair with the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. He is a lecturer, chamber musician, performer, teaching artist, and administrator. He is currently Administrator of the South Georgia String Project and Personnel Manager for the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Yu is also an active performer, serving as Principal Viola and Artistic Administrator for Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Principal Viola of the Albany Symphony Orchestra, and member of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. He is also an active advocate for music and music education, currently serving on the Board of the American Viola Society and as Artistic Director of The Artist Series of Tallahassee. He regularly presents lectures and workshops at music conferences, including the Florida Music Education Association, American String Teachers Association, American Viola Society Festival and International Viola Congress.
