Please join us as we welcome Nicole Melrose of StringRise to learn more about Trauma-Informed Practices for the String Classroom!
Sunday, October 26
5:00-7:00pm Central Time
Online via Zoom
Students with trauma are often missed, underestimated, or labeled disinterested in learning. At StringRise, we believe a trauma-informed classroom is an equity-rooted classroom. Whether you are seeking tools for a new program or strengthening an existing program, this workshop will provide training and help you identify tools and resources you need to build a thriving trauma-informed string program. The information in the session can be tailored to classroom or private lesson teaching.
Registration is free to all, and registrants will receive a link to a recording of the session afterward for their own personal use.
Nicole Melrose is the Founder and CEO of StringRise and serves as the Education Outreach Coordinator and Clinician for D’Addario. A first-generation Lebanese-American educator, clinician, speaker, and consultant, Nicole specializes in trauma, performance anxiety, the neuroscience of learning, and beginning-string pedagogy. Her work began by building programs from the ground up for historically underserved students through the Ubuntu Music Project in East Dallas. With a deep belief in the transformative power of music, she created access where there was none—developing inclusive, regulation-centered programs that changed students’ life trajectories. StringRise is the extension of that vision, now focused on creating impactful and equity-driven string programs nationwide. Nicole’s approach integrates polyvagal theory and nervous system science into everyday classroom practice, equipping teachers to understand the neural and somatic layers of student learning. She is particularly known for her work in Title I schools, where she develops targeted programming that leverages sound production as a powerful tool for regulation and connection. Nicole continues to shape the national dialogue around music education, equity, and the power of sound.
