21 Feb Suzuki VIOLA Unit 1 Training – Starting Sep 20!
The AVS is proud to sponsor a unique teacher training opportunity in Fall 2025 – Suzuki VIOLA/Violin Unit 1, taught by Dr. Rebekah Hanson, violist and Suzuki Teacher Trainer. Thanks to a partnership with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, AVS members will receive a $100 discount on registration!
The world needs more violists….everyone should take Suzuki Viola Unit 1! The class is open to teachers of viola and violin, and counts toward registered training on both instruments. The designation as a Viola/Violin course means that the course will be taught on viola, and that pedagogical choices will consider both viola and violin. These courses are almost always taught from a violin-centric point of view, so this is a rare opportunity to learn more about starting young violists!
Dive into the details of starting new players from a viola-centric approach, including: posture, left/right hand technique, note reading/theory, ear training, private lessons, group classes, the business of running a studio, recitals, parent education, building community, differences between beginning viola and violin, and much more!
Saturdays, Sept. 20th-Nov. 22nd – 9am-noon PST, online
36 hours of class and observations
$650 for AVS members / $750 for non-members
Please be sure to submit your audition video well in advance of the course start date, and be sure to complete the prerequisite course, Every Child Can!, before classes start!
